2/23
This week was spent continuing to gather data and help teachers incorporate technology into their lessons. I also got my follow up survey approved by my principal and she sent it out to 39 staff members on Thursday at 3pm. I just checked and already 15 colleagues have already responded. YEH!
I also spent time this weekend trying to complete as much of chapter 4 as I could however I still need more results. I also set up chapter 5 and started to respond to certain parts. I added some more to the appendix.
I previously mentioned that I was not completely happy with the outcome of the excel spreadsheet for
available apps and websites so I took a stab at symbaloo. I sent it to the tech coordinator in our building who asked that I present it at our tech committee meeting this coming Wednesday - she likes it and would like to get feedback from the members of the committee.
The last part of news for the week is that we are again having an inservice on Friday 3/7. Our curriculum director has set it up as teach the teacher. He asked if anyone is interested in facilitating 25 minute sessions on a topic of your choice. Of course I signed up to facilitate a session on the use of Scribblepress (an app). Looking forward to that afternoon .

Keep plugging along
2/16
Another week has gone by and I continue to gather data. Not only am I helping one 4th grade teacher utilize the iMovie app in her class but a 3rd grade teacher asked if I could help her with a tech project which would include using the chromebooks and/or iPads for a biography project. Then another 4th grade teacher asked if she could sit with me and talk about how she could add some technology into her class. The word is spreading now - YEAH! I absolutely love being able to help out both the kids and their teachers be able to use technology to create a better more interesting project!
I was really looking forward to our in service day, this past Friday so teachers could get some well needed training on Chromebooks and iPad apps. Unfortunately, both 45 minute classes left a lot to be desired. Thank goodness that the presenter of the Chromebook training did introduce the new drive that the teachers have access to that contains student created technology projects.
I plan on continuing (for another week or two) to visit teachers who have signed out the iPad cart to see how they are utilizing the technology.
One other data point I need to still collect is the results of the follow up survey. I originally created and sent one out last spring to see where there was a disconnect in utilizing technology. I now want to send out a follow up (on 2/24)to see how the teachers have adjusted to the interventions put in place.
I am still hoping to sit with our administrator to see if and when she would be able to fit in some chromebook and iPad training during articulation (since this has not happened to date due to circumstances beyond my control).

Trying to find the time during the day!
2/9/14
This week was spent continuing to track the iPad usage at school and trouble shooting why 1 cart was not working in a particular part of the school. In addition, on my prep and/or lunch, I continued to spend time in classrooms evaluating how teachers are using technology and what kind of projects the students are creating. I am also currently working with a 4th grade teacher who wanted to take her class research project on planets and create iMovies with it. This will be an ongoing project for the next few weeks.
I spoke with our Curriculum Director and asked if he could introduce the new Tech Based Project Folder that was created during our inservice this coming Friday. I sent him a document with directions for the teachers to follow and am waiting for feedback back on it.
I also asked our Technology Coordinator if I could sit with her and plan out what type of hands on training we could include during articulation periods. To date, I would have liked to have had a few apps and sites already discussed but that's school politics and other topics have taken precedence during our articulation time slot.
I would also like to take the apps and sites excel spreadsheet and house it on another application but don't know what to use. I am not happy with it on excel - not professional looking and would like to be able to sort easier. Any thoughts???? I am hoping someone at class tomorrow will be able to help me out with another app I could use.
See you tomorrow!
