3/23
Just made final touches on paper. Had to fix abstract (take out about 40 or so words) and realign page numbers. Am going to bring to work tomorrow and look over one last time on larger screen to make sure all looks good to go before resubmitting for final grade. Then I will print out and transfer to disc to bring to class next week. Still have to put together a few ppt slides for next weeks class.
I have printed out the syllabus for the next class and started reviewing it. Seems interesting. I am not at all happy about the status of the fall class we have to take in order to receive our supervisory certificate. Am looking into other alternatives because do not feel it necessary to drive, after working all day, to Hammonton to take this class! I am hoping that I can work something out with Kim Lebak.

Just one more week until all is due
3/16
Well, I spent this past week finalizing Chapter 5, fixing a few details in Chapter 4, and finishing the Abstract. Then I had to make sure that all pages in the Table of Contents were aligned and forwarded it for review.
I looked over the comments and cannot believe that I didn't check over the pagination before submitting. Sorry! So looks like this coming week will be spent just fixing that and altering the Abstract and a few other things.
Glad that my results showed progress to the end result even though the percentage of colleagues that responded to my follow up survey was so much lower than the first time. Might have something to do with the time of year. My first survey was sent out at the end of the year when teacher work load is much less than this time of year.

3/9
Reviewed comments from both March 3rd and March 10th assignments. Glad to see that I am on the right track. I was confused with one comment on the 3/10 assignment. You stated,
I know you will add to TOC data, pgs 42-47 - not sure what that means. I have tried to figure out what TOC stands for but cannot. I thought that I added enough data from survey results, technology based project observations, and iPad sign out sheet data. Is there additional data results that need to be added?
I will go back and add percentage increase in use of technology in the summary of chapter 4 though. Will work to complete chapter 5 by the end of this week.
Unfortunately, I did not add too much to chapter 5 this week because I was working on getting ready for the in-service on Friday. I think it went well, I received positive feedback from my colleagues that attended my session. What I find disturbing is that some teachers think it is OK to come to a training session late and then talk through the entire thing. It is distracting to those who are truly trying to learn the scribblepress app.
I also attended Lindsey's session which was choc full of information on apps to use at every level in Bloom's taxonomy. She put a lot of work into it and it showed.
Do we have to sign in and chat tomorrow - oh wait, the syllabus states that it is optional. It appears that the next few weeks are bb collaborate café and the last date of 3/31 we will hold class. Is that when we will meet for drinks and happy hour?

Weeks are a blur now
3/2
Ok, so not sure what was done this past week and what was done the week before! I had a great start to the survey but not many more responses came in. I only received 17 of 39 sent out which is only a 44% participation rate. The spring survey had many more responses - 71%. Oh well, still got a small picture of what is going on with regard to technology. Will share results in chapter 4.
In addition to this, I presented Symbaloo to the technology committee members and it was a hit. The tech folks have decided that each school will create its own Symbaloo with appropriate site links for the students of that school - our district has a pre k and k school, first - second grade school, third and fourth grade school, and a fifth and sixth grade school. The symbaloo will be the home screen when the students sign on to the internet. Yeh!
We have a half day inservice this coming Friday so I will be presenting a 25 minute hands on presentation of Scribblepress (an app that creates a book).
Took a lot of time over this past week to analyze the ipad sign out sheet data for the past 9 weeks along with the data from the teacher observations. Also analyzed all the responses from the survey. All the information that could be compared to the spring data was and it all was added to chapter 4. Still making finishing touches on this though.
Hoping for a snow day tomorrow so I can review chapter 4 again before sending to you.

One month and counting
2/23
This week was spent continuing to gather data and help teachers incorporate technology into their lessons. I also got my follow up survey approved by my principal and she sent it out to 39 staff members on Thursday at 3pm. I just checked and already 15 colleagues have already responded. YEH!
I also spent time this weekend trying to complete as much of chapter 4 as I could however I still need more results. I also set up chapter 5 and started to respond to certain parts. I added some more to the appendix.
I previously mentioned that I was not completely happy with the outcome of the excel spreadsheet for
available apps and websites so I took a stab at symbaloo. I sent it to the tech coordinator in our building who asked that I present it at our tech committee meeting this coming Wednesday - she likes it and would like to get feedback from the members of the committee.
The last part of news for the week is that we are again having an inservice on Friday 3/7. Our curriculum director has set it up as teach the teacher. He asked if anyone is interested in facilitating 25 minute sessions on a topic of your choice. Of course I signed up to facilitate a session on the use of Scribblepress (an app). Looking forward to that afternoon .

Keep plugging along
2/16
Another week has gone by and I continue to gather data. Not only am I helping one 4th grade teacher utilize the iMovie app in her class but a 3rd grade teacher asked if I could help her with a tech project which would include using the chromebooks and/or iPads for a biography project. Then another 4th grade teacher asked if she could sit with me and talk about how she could add some technology into her class. The word is spreading now - YEAH! I absolutely love being able to help out both the kids and their teachers be able to use technology to create a better more interesting project!
I was really looking forward to our in service day, this past Friday so teachers could get some well needed training on Chromebooks and iPad apps. Unfortunately, both 45 minute classes left a lot to be desired. Thank goodness that the presenter of the Chromebook training did introduce the new drive that the teachers have access to that contains student created technology projects.
I plan on continuing (for another week or two) to visit teachers who have signed out the iPad cart to see how they are utilizing the technology.
One other data point I need to still collect is the results of the follow up survey. I originally created and sent one out last spring to see where there was a disconnect in utilizing technology. I now want to send out a follow up (on 2/24)to see how the teachers have adjusted to the interventions put in place.
I am still hoping to sit with our administrator to see if and when she would be able to fit in some chromebook and iPad training during articulation (since this has not happened to date due to circumstances beyond my control).

Trying to find the time during the day!
2/9/14
This week was spent continuing to track the iPad usage at school and trouble shooting why 1 cart was not working in a particular part of the school. In addition, on my prep and/or lunch, I continued to spend time in classrooms evaluating how teachers are using technology and what kind of projects the students are creating. I am also currently working with a 4th grade teacher who wanted to take her class research project on planets and create iMovies with it. This will be an ongoing project for the next few weeks.
I spoke with our Curriculum Director and asked if he could introduce the new Tech Based Project Folder that was created during our inservice this coming Friday. I sent him a document with directions for the teachers to follow and am waiting for feedback back on it.
I also asked our Technology Coordinator if I could sit with her and plan out what type of hands on training we could include during articulation periods. To date, I would have liked to have had a few apps and sites already discussed but that's school politics and other topics have taken precedence during our articulation time slot.
I would also like to take the apps and sites excel spreadsheet and house it on another application but don't know what to use. I am not happy with it on excel - not professional looking and would like to be able to sort easier. Any thoughts???? I am hoping someone at class tomorrow will be able to help me out with another app I could use.
See you tomorrow!
